Fall 2018 Concert

Dear Friend of the Palatine Band,

The Palatine Concert Band would like to thank you for your valuable support for our indoor and outdoor concerts throughout this past 2017–2018 season.

The Palatine Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Frederick Lowe, opens its 2018–2019 concert season with “Music of Leonard Bernstein and Richard Strauss” on Sunday, November 4 at 3:30 p.m. at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E Wood Street in Palatine.

Our featured guest soloist for the concert is Gail Williams, professor of music at Northwestern University and former associate principal horn in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, performing Strauss’s Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major for Horn.

Also included on the program are Allerseelen by Strauss, and the following works by Leonard Bernstein: “Danzon” from the ballet Fancy Free“Profanation” from Symphony No. 1 “Jeremiah,” and a suite from the operetta Candide.

 

French Hornist Gail Williams

 

Featured Soloist
A former member of the Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera Orchestras, internationally recognized hornist and brass pedagogue Gail Williams is principal horn of the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra. She has also appeared with the San Antonio Symphony, New World Symphony, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, among others.

Spring 2018 Concert on April 29th


Dear Friend of the Palatine Concert Band,

The Palatine Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Frederick Lowe, is pleased to present "DANCE" as the theme of its Spring Concert on April 29, at 3:30 pm at Cutting Hall in Palatine. We are very excited about this last indoor concert, and we have some excellent selections on tap for your listening pleasure.

This toe tapping line-up will provide a wonderful musical afternoon for all!

The program includes the following selections:  Dance Rhythms, Op. 58a by Wallingford Riegger, Suite from the Ballet Pineapple Poll by Arthur Sullivan/arr. Mackerras & Duthoit, Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns/trans. Mark H. Hindsley, Glenn Miller in Concert Arr. Wayne Scott, Four Dances from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein/arr. Ian Polster, and more.

Palatine Concert Band Announces Its
Winter 2018 Concert – March 11, 2018

Dear Friend of the Palatine Concert Band,
Welcome to 2018 as we launch the second half of our 2017-2018 Palatine Concert Band season.  We very much appreciate your ongoing support of the PCB and traditional concert band music.  We’re pleased to announce our Winter Concert, FORMS & STRUCTURES, coming soon on Sunday, March 11, at 3:30 pm at PALATINE HIGH SCHOOL, Altergott Auditorium, 1111 N. Rohlwing Road, Palatine You don’t want to miss it!

Our FORMS & STRUCTURES program, under the direction of Dr. Frederick Lowe, includes the following selections:  Smetana Fanfare, Karel Husa; Nothing Gold Can Stay,Steven Bryant; Divertimento, Leonard Bernstein/trans. Clare Grundman; George Washington Bridge, William Schuman; The Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber; Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral, Richard Wagner/trans. Lucien Cailliet, and The Beau Ideal, John Philp Sousa/ed. Jim Worman.

Our annual Holiday Concert is this week – Friday, December 1 at 7:00pm at The Cutting Hall Performing Art Center in Palatine.  We will be featuring traditional and contemporary holiday favortites; give you an opportunity to sing-a-long, and of course, a visit from Santa is on the schedule for those young and young-at-heart.

As always – we so appreciate your support and we thank you for your commitment and patronage. We look forward to seeing you this Friday evening.
