Palatine Concert Band
Dear Friend of the Palatine Concert Band,

For those of you who were able to attend, thank you so much for joining us on November 6 for the downbeat to the Band’s 62nd consecutive concert season.  We had a great time playing Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet – it’s a demanding and challenging piece.  We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and we’re very thankful you were with us to celebrate Shakespeare & Love.

We’re all getting ready to kick off the Holiday Season.  As I write this, Thanksgiving is up next and the Holiday Season of many different faiths and traditions follows in December.  For Christians, Advent begins November 27 with Christmas on December 25; for those of Jewish faith, Hanukkah begins December 6; for many African-Americans, Kwanzaa begins December 26.  These days have many different meanings, but we try to celebrate them with family and friends as an additional way of making time special.  We hope this will be a special time for you as well.

Our annual Holiday Concert is right around the corner as the Holiday Season begins – Friday, December 2 at 7:00pm at The Cutting Hall Performing Art Center in Palatine.  We have some wonderful Holiday treats on the program for you including Once In Royal David’s City, Gaunlett, arr Sparke; The Eighth Candle, Reisteter; Christmas March, Goldman, arr. Rogers; and Russian Christmas Music, Reed.  We will also perform a few of your traditional Christmas favorites; give you an opportunity to sing-a-long, and of course, a visit from Santa is planned for those young and young-at-heart.

Looking into 2017, our director, Dr. Rick Lowe, is building our future concert repertoire around two distinct and interesting themes.  The Winter Concert will be centered on our interpretation of the” British Invasion,” and the Spring Concert will focus on “Fanfares and Classics”.  Mark your calendars now for these special programs.

Sunday, March 19, 2017 - 3:30pm, Palatine High School (1111 N Rohlwing Road)
Sunday, April 30, 2017 - 3:30pm, Cutting Hall
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.  Children 12 and under are free, and tickets are available online at or at the Cutting Hall Box Office.  Additional information about the band can be found online at, and on Facebook at

As always, we very much appreciate your support and thank you for your ongoing commitment to making our concerts a special opportunity to enjoy great music.  Make your plans now to kick off your Holiday Season with us on December 2 in Cutting Hall at 7:00pm, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Warmest Holiday greetings from our family to yours,
Steve Sedlak
VP & Publicity Coordinator
