Dear Friends of the Palatine Concert Band,
A special Thank You
to all the hearty souls who braved the dreary and wet weather for our Winter Concert in March. We had a great afternoon together and on behalf of all the band members let me share how very appreciative we are of your commitment and support.
The Palatine Concert Band’s next concert is just around the corner: Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 3:30 pm in Cutting Hall,
150 East Wood Street in Palatine, and it will be special. Our music will have a decided Latin and Spanish theme, and we are very excited to present the World Premier of Tango, de Antaño a Hogaño
, by Daniel French, a commissioned piece in honor of the Band’s 60th
Anniversary. The translation is Tango, From the Past to the Present
. Daniel is originally from Rockford, Illinois, and is currently a doctoral student at the University of California at Los Angeles. You can read more about him at www.danielfrenchmusic.com
. The other compositions on the program include La Fiesta Mexicana
(H. Owen Reed), Conga Del Fuego Nuevo
(Arturo Márquez arr. Nickel), Volver a la Montaña
(Shelley Hanson), and La Procession du Rocio
(Joaquin Turina, arr. A. Reed), as well as a few others. Click here for a copy of our concert flyer.
If you have a favorite business other venue that will allow you to post a flyer, please feel free to do so.
