November 2015 Update

Dear Friend of the Palatine Concert Band,

Welcome to our kick-off of the 2015 Holiday Season as we begin to move through the Band’s 61st concert season.  We hope you were with us for the Fall Concert – we had a great time with all the music, especially the Star Wars Trilogy, by John Williams and Donald Hunsberger.  The audience was wonderful, and we’re so thankful you came out to see and hear the Band.

Next up is our annual Holiday Concert – Friday December 4th at 7:00pm at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center in Palatine.  This promises to be wonderful way to launch the Holiday Season for young and old, and we hope you’ll make plans to join us.  The band is preparing a great concert of new tunes, traditional favorites complete with opportunities for a Sing-a-Long, a visit from Santa, and we’ll also reprise a “fan favorite” from the November concert.  The program will include: Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis, Smith; A Holiday Rhapsody, arr. MacTaggart; Toboggan Ride, Applebaum; C’est Noel, Jutras; White Christmas, Berlin, arr. Russell Bennett; and Christmas “Pop” Sing-A-Long, arr. Ployhar.

You can download a copy of our concert flyer here. If you know of a neighborhood business that allows you to post a flyer, please feel free to do so.

After the Holiday Concert, the band will take a break before returning in March on the following schedule:
  • Sunday, March 13, 2016, 3:30pm – Winter Concert
  • Sunday, May 1, 2016, 3:30pm – Spring Concert
The band is planning that the May 1 concert will be a Latin-theme concert in anticipation of Cinco de Mayo.  This should be a lot of fun, and a great lead-in to the summer season.  Mark your calendars now!

All indoor concerts take place at The Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 East Wood Street in Palatine. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Children 12 and under are free, and tickets are available online at http://www.cuttinghall.org or at the Cutting Hall Box Office. Additional information about the band can be found online at www.palatineconcertband.org, and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/palatineconcertband.

As always – we so appreciate your support and we thank you for your patronage.   Make your plans now to attend the Holiday concert, and we look forward to seeing you on December 4th.

Warmest regards for the Holidays,

September 2015 Update

Dear Friend of the Palatine Concert Band,

The Palatine Concert Band would like to thank you for your wonderful and invaluable support for our indoor and outdoor concerts throughout this past 2014-2015 season.

In April, we were saddened to learn that our conductor, Dr. Frederick (Rick) Lowe needed surgery for an unexpected heart condition.  He found a replacement conductor for our last indoor concert – Dan Farris.  Thank you to Dan Farris for taking over on such short notice.  That concert was the only concert in our history where our current conductor and our previous conductor sat next to each other in the audience and, of course, were very proud of us.

We are also grateful to Ron Polancich for stepping in on extremely short notice to conduct our summer season, along with some band members as guest conductors.  A fun time was had by all.

We are also thankful for all the support from the Palatine Park District.  We have agreed to a new Series Subscription price for purchasing tickets to all four concerts for the 2015-2016 season of $30 for adults/$18 for seniors/students.  The regular prices are $8 for adults/$5 for seniors/students.  If you are interested in the Series Subscription, tickets are now available through the Cutting Hall Box Office, and online at http://cuttinghall.org/tickets/.

Looking forward, we are excited to announce our 2015-2016 Palatine Concert Band concert schedule.
