British Eighth

Zo Elliott

British Eighth was written to honor British General Bernard Montgomery and the British Eighth Army shortly after they swept across North Africa and defeated the famed Afrika Korps under Field Marshall Erwin Rommel (“The Desert Fox.”) This stately march is an American march in British style.

Alonzo “Zo” Elliott (1891–1964) was born in Manchester, NH. He received his education from Phillips Academy, Yale University, Cambridge University, Columbia University Law School, and the American Conservatory (France).
