A Christmas Intrada

Alfred Reed

A Christmas Intrada portrays five contrasting moods associated with the festivities of the season: "Fanfare: Christus Natus Est" for brass, chimes, bells and percussion; "Lullaby for the Christ Child" by woodwinds; "Processional for the Kings and Shepherds" played by all; "Carol for the Holy Night" for woodwinds, saxophones and muted brass; and finally "Wassail and Alleluia" for a joyous and triumphant conclusion.

Alfred Reed (1921-2005) was born and raised in New York. After a distinguished career in the Army Air Force band and at Juilliard, he taught at the University of Miami for many years. He composed over 500 works for band, wind ensemble, orchestra, chorus and various chamber ensembles.
