A Christmas Intrada portrays five contrasting moods associated with the festivities of the season. They are: Fanfare: Christus Natus Est for brass, chimes, bells and percussion; Lullaby For The Christ Child by woodwinds; Processional For The Kings and Shepherds played by all; Carol For The Holy Night for woodwinds, saxophones and muted brass; and finally Wassail and Alleluia which brings the entire work to a joyous and triumphant conclusion.

Alfred Reed (1921-2005) was born and raised in Manhattan. After a distinguished career in the Army Air Force band and at Juilliard, he taught at the University of Miami for many years. He composed over 500 works for band, wind ensemble, orchestra, chorus and various chamber ensembles.
