Fanfare from the Overture to Libuše

Bedřich Smetana

Bedřich Smetana (1824–1884) was a Czech composer who developed a musical style which became closely identified with his country's aspirations to independence. He is thus widely regarded in his homeland as the father of Czech music. In Czech historical myth, Queen Libuše, the opera’s title character, prophesied the founding of Prague.
