Shelley Hanson
Patapan This traditional French Christmas carol about the birth of Jesus Christ is told from the perspective of shepherds playing simple flutes and drums. "Patapan" is meant to mimic the sound of the drum.
Shelley Hanson (b.1951) received her Ph.D. in music from Michigan State University. She is a composer and arranger, with an affinity for writing and per- forming folk music. She is a teacher, conductor, record producer and profession- al musician with the Klezmer and All That Jazz band, principal clarinetist of the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra and a faculty member of Macalester College.
