Ulterior Overture

Ulterior Overture is an exciting work by renowned local composer William Himes was commissioned and first performed by the Palatine Concert Band in 2005, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the band’s modern revival. It celebrates the enthusiasm of the musicians and our community which has nurtured them for over half a century. Upbeat and cheerful, the piece contains barely-detectable fragments, inversions and modulations of a familiar celebratory tune.
