Norman Dello Joio
Variants on a Mediaeval Tune The mediaeval melody “In Dulci Jubilo” has been used by many composers, among them J.S. Bach. Norman Dello Joio’s composition consists of a brief introduction, the theme, and five “variants” in which strong contrasts are developed in tempo and character.
Norman Dello Joio (1913-2008) began his musical career at the age of 14 as a church organist and choir director in New York.
