Barnum and Bailey's Favorite

Karl L. King

This circus march was written by Karl King (1891-1971). King was raised in Ohio and joined the circus at age 19 as a baritone player. Despite little formal music education he composed nearly 300 marches, waltzes, overtures, intermezzos, serenades, dirges, rags and galops. After his circus days he settled in Fort Dodge, Iowa where he established a music publishing business, composed, and directed the municipal band for fifty years.
