Cause for Celebration

Cause for Celebration , a rousing, jubilant overture that mixes five original themes with the well-known doxology “Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow.” The hymn is presented in short, lyrical, energetic motif fragments, which combine until the complete hymn is presented in the form of a chorale prelude.

William Himes (b. 1949) is well-known for his compositions and arrangements. He earned bachelor and master of music degrees from the University of Michigan. He taught in the public schools of Flint, Michigan and at the University of Michigan - Flint. Since 1977 he has been music director of the Salvation Army’s Central Territory and conductor of the Chicago Staff Band.
