Robert E. Foster
Greensleeves Variants takes the popular English folksong and transforms it as it moves around the ensemble. It features unusual instrument combinations, a variety of tempos, and unexpected harmonic shifts with the traditional melody present throughout all variations.
Robert E. Foster (b. 1939) is an American composer, educator, and trumpet player. He served as the Director of Bands at the University of Kansas. He has written numerous textbooks and articles for music education journals, in addition to composing/arranging over 100 pieces.
