Selections from The Nightmare Before Christmas
Danny Elfman/arr. Michael Brown
Selections from The Nightmare Before Christmas In the classic animated Disney movie from 2000 directed by Tim Burton, Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is bored with doing the same thing every year for Halloween. One day he stumbles into Christmas Town and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bats, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween Town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween -- but alas, they can't get it quite right. This unique offering for the holiday season features deliciously sinister music, including “Overture,” “Christmas Eve Montage,” “Sally's Song,” “This Is Halloween” and “End Title.”
Danny Elfman (b.1953) is an American composer, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was the lead singer and songwriter for the band Oingo Boingo. Elfman has written many movie scores including those for Spider-Man, Pee-wee's Big Adventure and most of Tim Burton’s movies. Among his honors he has earned four Academy Award nominations, a Grammy for Batman, and an Emmy for Desperate Housewives. One of his most famous compositions is the theme to the animated TV show The Simpsons.
