Francois Borne was the principle flautist for the Grand Theatre of Bordeaux and a flute professor at the Toulouse Conservatory. He is most well-known for Carmen Fantaisie Brilliante, a flute solo based on themes from Bizet’s opera, "Carmen." It features iconic melodies like the “Habanera” and “Toreador Song,” transformed through brilliant technical variations, rapid arpeggios, and high-register flute techniques, shifting the opera’s fatalism into a celebratory concert performance.
