Hymns from the Rig Veda

Gustav Holst, arranged by James Causley Windram, edited by Jon Ceander Mitchell

Hymns From the Rig Veda is a collection of hymns from India’s Rig Veda, which is the oldest and most significant of the four sacred Hindu scriptures. Holst translated these hymns from Sanskrit himself, and originally arranged them for various choirs. The hymns are known for their lyrical beauty and exotic textures, and they mark a distinctly different style for Holst. The three hymns in this band arrangement are Hymn of the Travellers, Hymn to Manas, and Battle Hymn.
