Polonaise, from the Opera Christmas Night
Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov/arr. W.J. Duthoit
Polonaise from the Opera Christmas Night A Polonaise (French for "Polish”) is a slow dance of Polish origin, in 3/4 time. Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844–1908) combined his composition and teaching with a career in the Russian military. He left a considerable body of original Russian nationalist compositions and is considered "the main architect" of what the classical music afficionados consider the Russian style of composition.
